Perfume connoisseurs and lovers of Clive Christian’s perfumes know that these are amongst the finest and most beautifully crafted in the world and the most famous of all, is No1, the one he refers to “the perfume of my heart”.
This perfume is comprised of only the most rare and highest quality ingredients, No1 is officially recognised as The World’s Most Expensive Perfume, reflecting the luxury of the perfume. Being “the perfume of my heart”, Clive has chosen to create for No1, a very special bottle, a bottle of extraordinary beauty and rarity – and one to mark the opening of the first Clive Christian Perfume Boutique in Harrods’ splendid new Salon de Parfums.
“I was inspired to create an iconic bottle as precious as a crown jewel to mark this special event.” – Clive Christian, OBE
No1 Passant Guardant
Clive called this perfume No1 Passant Guardant and took the house’s signature crystal bottle and draped it in fine, handcrafted, 24 carat gold lattice-work. Embedded in the lattice-work are more than 2000 individually set flawless white diamonds. Set in the eyes of the lion standing “passant guardant” over the Crown are two yellow diamonds, whilst a rare pink diamond marks out the lion’s tongue. The piece is a sensually opulent homage to the fragrance within – 30ml of No1 The World’s Most Expensive Perfume. The No 1 Passant Guardant will be available exclusively in the Salon de Parfums, Harrods, for £143,000.
First Established in 1872 and Revived by Clive Christian
Clive Christian became the custodian of a British perfumery first established in 1872, the only house ever to have been granted the image of Queen Victoria’s crown. It was his mission to set about restoring true luxury to the world of perfumery by reviving the original values and heritage of the perfumery with no reference to cost under his principle to “Design first – to be the best that it can be – then cost it”.
A Vision for Perfumes Made of Rare and Precious Ingredients
Clive Christian’s vision of luxury perfume culminated in the 1999 release of the Original Collection of six pure perfumes in three matched ‘his and hers’ pairs using the most rare and precious natural ingredients from around the world.
The Special Bottles Essential to the Perfume Experience
The design of the bottle was as an important reflection of the perfume itself, and in addition to reviving the original glass bottles from the perfumery archives, Clive also designed a hand-cut crystal stopper for the pure perfume aficionado.
Silk and Perfume, The Perfect Pair
A ritual in using and maintaining pure perfume is to employ the use of a silk handkerchief to clean off the crystal stopper. As days go by, the handkerchief takes on the scent into its fibers and remains as memoir of days past and makes an elegant accessory, the silk gently radiating the scent.
