There's a gold-plated version available for nearly $2,000.
Rihanna is not your typical campaign face, content to simply appear in advertisements or represent the brand on the red carpet. The CFDA-certified style icon knows a thing or two about collaborative design (see her Manolo Blahnik capsule and Fenty x Puma collection), and on Tuesday, the pop star announced that she has partnered with Dior on a line of futuristic, reflective sunglasses. Inspired by Geordi La Forge from "Star Trek," the style comes in six colors; WWD reports that the silver, pink, blue, green and red styles will cost $840, while a "deluxe" 24-karat gold-plated one will cost $1,950. No big deal. The sunglasses will be available in June, only at Dior stores.
According to WWD, this is the first time Dior's eyewear designer Mathieu Jamin has worked with a celebrity. "She chose all the lenses and took time to match all the colors together to see if it was right on her face," he told the trade publication.
Rihanna has already demonstrated that the glasses look right on her face on Instagram, where she posted pictures of herself wearing the silver and blue styles in between stops on her "Anti" world tour. Stay tuned to see that gold-plated pair in action, too — just in time for "Star Trek Beyond," coming to theaters in June.
