Sakara Life is combining two hot trends in eating: meal delivery services and the desire for organic, raw super foods, so it’s no wonder that trendsetters Gwyneth Paltrow and Chrissy Teigen are fans.
The concept was born when co-founders Whitney Tingle and Danielle DuBoise found themselves trapped in the unhealthy, fast-paced New York rat race in the world of finance.
Both of the two young blonds had gown up eating well, with California and Sedona-style ethos, but had come far, far away from it in the big city. Coming back to a plant-based, wellness-minded eating patterned got them both back to health.
After raising $700 at a dinner party to launch the concept from their kitchen, the friends launched in 2012, gaining celebrity fans early on. Sakara creates satisfying meals that make use of super foods to offer meals based around their “Pillars of Nutrition.”
Sakara’s Pillars are that there will be no calorie counting, that all protein comes from plans, the use of good fats and hydrating foods, eating the rainbow and insuring that all their meals have serious nutrient density. The delivery, which arrives on a Tuesday morning and provides meals through lunch on Friday, includes beautifully packaged meals with specific days assigned so make everything a no-brainer.
Additionally, drinks are included like the Number 1 “Morning Water,” which includes rose water, silica and trace minerals to start your day off correctly. They also include a “Night Water,” which is a green chlorella drink for right before bed. Everything has been thought out, and consumers are never left hungry.
Did we mention that the food is organic? Whitney and Danielle try to make everything as organic as possible and green salads start fresh in order to make it to Friday with zero wilt factor. Until recently, Sakara Life was only available in New York. They launched Miami service during Art Basel, and now, through a recent $4.8 million Series A funding round, Sakara has finally become available nation-wide.
“We are seeing massive appetite among consumers to lead healthier lifestyles,” explains Whitney Tingle. “With the additional capital, we want to continue this expansion and remove all the obstacles standing in the way of people accessing this live- changing experience.”
The program starts at $69 a day, and offers three-day and five-day meal programs depending on location. Their motto is “Eat Clean, Eat Whole” and one thing’s for sure they will never leave you hungry.
