Driven to innovate, the VPLP team of naval architects yearly develops a concept project to be first presented at the Monaco Yacht Show.
At the MYS 2014 they revealed the MANIFESTO project; a 234’ superyacht catamaran. In 2015, they presented a 86 m Superyacht Hybrid trimaran called “KOMOREBI”.
KOMOREBI : Nature Inspired Concept Superyacht
KOMOREBI is the quintessence of VPLP’s thinking of yachting, luxury and space. KOMOREBI (木漏れ日) is a Japanese concept representing the time when nature is enhanced by the sun’s rays.
A design that invites you to relax, unwind, rejuvenate and live harmoniously. Reflected in the elegantly muted styling and ultra-open layout affording great vistas and private places throughout the vessel. This hybrid trimaran is a blend of comfort at sea, space, stability, low running costs as well as a big step towards a clean wake; the embodiment of a dream of new ways to sail and KOMOREBI is the project that embodies the VPLP values and know-how.
Designed as an efficient and highly stable vessel capable of crossing oceans but still agile enough for shallow waters and to enter small places. She is a combination of a sailing vessel and a power yacht. Her wings are fully automated and powerful enough to drive her at 15 knots with 20 knots of wind with no engine on and save at least 30% of fuel on hybrid mode in a crossing.
Inside is an openness inside the vessel, light flows from everywhere; openness is a feel they intended to capture, reflected in the design. Luxury of space. Each particular area is designed to suit a special moment of the day offering privacy and conviviality for everyone on board. The different propulsion modes lend to the vessel range and autonomy rather than speed; the prevailing thinking behind that choice is the idea that quality of time and comfort are more important than high maximum speed. In addition, there is a full collection of toolsto explore above and below the sea: large tenders, submarine, sailing boats… Trimarans give you so many more options.
Designed elegance is not only a question of style, balance of proportions and harmony of lines, it also related to coherence and cleverness. Despite her length KOMOREBI is neither dominant nor overwhelming – she’s a sweet giant to love.
